Boddington’s family in Paso RoblesĬonsists of just her and her daughter, since her and her husband are divorced. Her daughter is currently a junior at University of Kansas, where she then plans to get her masters degree. I have many friends, and I have a great stable life here. I’m not rich, I’m not famous but I’m living the great life that I came here for. Both Bogginton and her daughter are living the normal American life that Boddington wanted when she moved here. They got married and raised their daughter together.Ĭurrently, Boddington is content with her life in Paso Robles as Speech Pathologist in the Paso Robles School District. After looking around they found the little town Paso Robles and fell in love. He lived in Colorado, so they had to compromise on a place to live. She met her husband at the time in beautiful San Diego while he was visiting the sunny area. A process that should take six weeks to get took her six months, her citizenship. Her best friend from graduate school told her that they needed speech pathologists in San Diego, so she moved to the sunny city where she got an interview the day after she moved.Įven living in the sunny beach city of San Diego, it was not all fun in the sun for Boddington. When Boddington first moved here, she and many of her friends from Brazil and America spent two weeks at Disneyland to get comfortable and have fun before starting her new life. “I’m the third generation of my family to try and immigrated to America, but I’m not going anywhere,” Boddington said. Her father also immigrated to America, in hopes for a better life, in the 50s, but his mother got s ick so he had to move back to Brazil. Her grandfather came with his wife from Italy and eventually moved back to Italy and then immigrated to Brazil. However Boddington isn’t the first generation to come to America in her family. to get her masters degree where she then fell in love with America, and knew it was the place she wanted to live and grow a family. I went to the mall, went to the movies, had a car, and had lots of loving friends.Īfter four years of college, she moved away to start her own practice as speech pathologist where she live alone in Sao Paulo. Life as a child was similar to in America. She went public schools all her life and then a private university. “When I told my friends and family, they were all supportive of course some were saying to stay and have a life in Brazil, but they supported me,” Boddington said.Īs a child, Boddington had a middle class life where she lived with her parents and her brother. She told her family and friends in Sao Paulo about her next chapter in her life who had mostly support and love towards her and her dreams. She had to make the preparations of money, having contact with her friends from college in America and preparing herself emotionally to be ready for the struggles that would come. “ I had a commitment to my students and my clients at the practice I worked at.”įour years after knowing she wanted to leave, Boddington made the decision to take a step into the next chapter of her life. “It’s a hard decision to leave my family and my home town,” Boddington said. After living in Sao Paulo for most of her life, she had a many friends she would have to leave behind.

She still had factors such as her family that she would leave behind and her prior commitments. It took four years for Boddington to finally make her decision to come to California. I wanted more opportunities for my future family and life ahead, the freedom that America had. There was no future, no opportunities in Brazil.
